As well as repairing and refurbishing all types of industrial gearboxes Southside Engineering has specialist knowledge and experience in the repair and refurbishment of exciter screen gearboxes.

Exciter gearboxes operate under extreme load conditions and in difficult environments. This is why Southside Engineering has developed unique procedures to ensure that we give our clients the maximum possible life out of a refurbished gearbox.

Part of our procedure is to provide a full report which includes our inspection outcome for each individual component and lists critical actual sizes against OEM sizes and whether they are within tolerances or not. Prior to any further work being carried out we provide a full scope of work for the repair/refurbishment with a breakdown of parts costs and labour costs.

With our in-house manufacturing facilities we are able to manufacture components required to complete the gearbox repair quickly and cost efficiently. Where hardened and ground gears are required these can be manufactured by Southside Engineering also ensuring our clients get the best service possible.

Our unique test bed is designed to test all exciter gearboxes under loaded conditions ensuring bearings are “run in”. During the load test temperature checks are intermittently carried out ensuring every gearbox is fit for service.
