Refurbishing and repairing gearboxes requires a craftsman's sense of balance and precision. Southside Engineering supplies fast repairs by highly skilled and trained personnel, experienced in the special workings of gear boxes and other mechanical equipment.

Gear box refurbishment is the cost effective alternative to equipment replacement. David Brown, Falk, Flender, Dodge and Sumitomo are just a few of the name brand gear boxes we have rebuilt for past customers. With our specialist knowledge we can give years of additional operational life to gearboxes.

A complete service is available in the handling, disassembling and refurbishment of your gear box whether it's 10 or 10,000 kgs. Special attention is provided for emergency breakdown repairs that may be required to get your equipment back in operation.

Technical assistance is available to examine any design changes that can be made to help improve the load-carrying capability of your existing gear reducers. Whatever the scope of work, from simple replacement of bearings, to the replacement of gears, to the overhaul of the housing, to redesign.

Reporting

Southside Engineering will provide a full report for every gearbox stripped. The report will provide the basic information of the gearbox with a detailed breakdown of the failure, bore and shaft sizes, wear on gears, crack detection and general condition of the gearbox. Photographs are provided in the reports where damage or failures have been identified.

In addition we provide a detailed work-scope of the refurbishment required along with a breakdown of the man-hours/costs associated with each task.

We believe that this gives our client's a clear understanding of what we will do for them as well as providing transparency of our service.

Where required we will provide a detailed close-out report on completion of the work, however our records are always available for client review.

Testing

All gearboxes are tested prior to final completion. We have a range of different types of tests available and recommend a test for each gearbox. However, we are happy to comply with any testing requirements our client's specify.
